What do the pins on the map mean?
The OOONO map shows you what's ahead using coloured pins. There are two groups:
- blue pins mark speed cameras
- orange pins mark road hazards and alerts
Here's what each one means.
Mobile and semi-fixed speed cameras are reported by the OOONO community, while fixed speed cameras come from OOONO's own database. If you notice a fixed speed camera that's missing from the map, you're welcome to contact our support team.
Help us and the community add a fixed speed camera To add a fixed speed camera, our data team needs the following details:
- If possible, a photo of the fixed camera (taken by a passenger, since your safety comes first).
- The exact address or coordinates of the camera.
- The speed limit at that location (if known).
- Whether the camera monitors traffic in one direction only, or in both directions (if known).

Speed cameras
-
Mobile
Mobile speed cameraTemporary cameras that the police move around from day to day — often in a parked van or operated by hand. Because they turn up in new spots, these are reported by the OOONO community using the CO-DRIVER by pressing the OOONO button once. -
Semi-fixed
Semi-fixed speed cameraA camera that stays in one place for a while but isn't permanent — typically a redeployable unit such as a camera trailer or a housing that's moved between known sites. It sits at a fixed spot while it's there, then may be relocated to another location later on. These can also be reported by the OOONO community. -
Fixed
Fixed speed cameraPermanently installed at a set location and always covering the same stretch of road. It measures your speed at a single point as you pass. All fixed speed cameras come from OOONO's own database. -
Fixed
Red light cameraPositioned at intersections to catch vehicles crossing on a red light. Many of them check your speed at the same time. -
Fixed
Section controlMeasures your average speed between two points along a stretch of road, rather than at a single spot. Keep a steady, legal speed across the whole section. -
Mobile zone
Mobile camera zone (UK only)A stretch of road where mobile speed checks are known to happen often. It appears as a highlighted blue section on the map, so you're alerted as you enter the zone and can see exactly what kind of alert it is. Learn more about UK Camera Zone Alerts.

Road hazards & alerts
-
Road hazardThe general category — the types below are more specific. It's a heads-up about something on or near the road that's worth your attention but doesn't fall under one of the others. Road hazards can be reported through the CO-DRIVER by pressing the OOONO button twice.
-
Road workConstruction or maintenance ahead. Expect things like lane closures, a lowered speed limit, or a diversion.
-
ObstacleSomething in the road that could get in your way — debris, a lost load, an animal, or a stopped vehicle.
-
AccidentA collision or incident reported ahead. Approach with care, as traffic may be slowing down or stopped.

What do the numbers mean?
When several pins sit close together, the map combines them into a single circle with a number. That number simply tells you how many pins are grouped in that spot — for example, a 3 means three pins are bundled there.
To see them individually, just zoom in: pinch outward with two fingers, and the clusters gradually break apart into separate pins as you get closer.
