Stay ahead — every mile
Your CO-DRIVER connects you to millions of drivers reporting live from the road. Here's everything you need to know about how warnings reach you.
The warnings you receive are based on what other users report via their CO-DRIVER NO1, NO2 and NO2 PLUS — meaning your reports are shared with others too.
The OOONO app is free and available on the App Store and Google Play. How do I set up my CO-DRIVER?
When do I get warned?
Warnings are not just based on distance — they're smarter. You won't receive alerts for stationary cameras on parallel streets, and if you're driving on the highway, nearby warnings that don't affect you won't be triggered.
This precision is especially important in cities, where there are many relevant warnings, but just as many that aren't useful to you.
Here's an example for fixed speed cameras:
You're driving on a street and there's a warning very close by, but it's on a parallel street and not on your route. Even though the incident is near, you won't receive that warning.
Now you drive a little further and already know you need to turn left. What you don't know is there's a road hazard about 400 metres after the turn. But as soon as you turn left, your CO-DRIVER warns you — right on time!
Road hazards and mobile speed cameras
Mobile camera and road hazard alerts come from the community, so their direction isn't always known. You might get warnings for mobile cameras or road hazards on the opposite side of the road or nearby parallel streets.
If a road hazard or mobile speed camera isn't showing in the app, it simply means it hasn't been reported yet. Already submitted a report? That's great — we've received it! These alerts go through a quick approval phase before appearing in the app, to ensure accuracy and avoid false alarms.
What about warning distances?
The warning distance depends on the allowed speed limit. The faster the road, the earlier the warning, so you have enough time to react. But just to be clear: we won't pay your speeding tickets. 😉
Why didn't I get a warning?
It could be because:
-
✓You were on a nearby road, but not the one the warning was set for.
-
✓You were driving in the opposite lane / direction of the road hazard or speed trap.
-
✓The mobile camera hasn't been reported by another user yet — but you know what to do, right?
-
✓The warning sound was turned off. How do I customize warning settings in the app?
-
✓Your CO-DRIVER wasn't connected properly. Check the Technical Troubleshooting article for help.
What are the different types of warnings?
Your CO-DRIVER is built to keep you informed — with the right information at the right time. There are three different types of alerts, each with its own sound and visual light signal.
Speed camera warnings
Keep you informed about an upcoming speed camera. Blue light on the device.
Road hazard warnings
Let you know about unexpected dangers ahead. Red light (NO1) or orange light (NO2).
Speed limit warnings (BETA)
Help you stay within the speed limit. White light on CO-DRIVER NO2 only.
Speed camera warnings
OOONO warns you about fixed, semi-fixed and mobile speed cameras.
-
✓Fixed speed cameras are permanent installations.
-
✓Mobile speed cameras are temporary or moving setups, usually reported by the OOONO community.
-
✓Semi-fixed speed cameras combine features of both — stationed at a specific location for a few days or a week.
-
✓Camera Zones are based on OOONO UK research and over 20 years of UK data, highlighting zones where police frequently set up mobile speed cameras.
Danger zones (France)
In France, warnings for speed cameras are shown as danger zones instead of the exact camera location:
-
✓A danger zone can contain either a fixed or a mobile speed camera.
-
✓You'll get a warning as soon as you enter the zone, but only if the camera is facing your driving direction.
-
✓Danger zone pins cannot be muted in the app.
Orange speed cameras (Italy)
In some parts of Italy, you might notice orange-coloured speed cameras along the roadside. These can be fixed or temporary — and it's impossible to tell whether a camera is active, "dummy," or uncertified. There's no public database that distinguishes between them, not even for us.
Your CO-DRIVER includes all reported cameras in its alerts. Even inactive cameras are installed to promote road safety — that's why CO-DRIVER warns you about them too.
Road hazard warnings
These alerts keep you safe when there's something unexpected ahead. They can include:
-
✓Traffic jams
-
✓Broken-down vehicles
-
✓Obstacles or objects on the road
These warnings are mostly driven by real-time user reports and are an important part of how the OOONO community keeps each other informed.
Camera Zone Alerts
We've expanded UK coverage with Camera Zones. Speed cameras aren't placed randomly — they often return to the same stretches of road again and again.
These locations are now mapped in the OOONO app as a blue highlighted stretch on the map, so you'll receive an alert when entering an area where speed camera enforcement is known to happen frequently.
What this means for you:
-
✓Earlier awareness on roads with higher enforcement risk.
-
✓Extra peace of mind, even when no camera is immediately visible.
-
✓Enabled by default if Mobile Speed Cameras are activated within the app.
Sometimes you may get a Camera Zone warning even if a speed camera isn't there at that exact moment. That simply means you're driving through a zone where enforcement often takes place — where a bit of extra attention is always a good idea.
This feature is available for all CO-DRIVER versions. Camera Zones can be enabled or disabled in the "Mobile Zones" section of the app.
To turn this feature on/off:
-
1
Tap the "=" symbol on the top right
-
2
Go to Device Settings
-
3
Select "Traffic Alarms"
-
4
Tap on "Cameras"
-
5
Select "Mobile Zones"

From here you can enable or disable this feature
Speed limit warnings (BETA)
Once you exceed the permitted speed limit, you will receive a friendly warning, an audible alert, and a notification on your phone.
-
✓The CO-DRIVER NO1 does not have any sound or light signals on the device itself.
-
✓With the CO-DRIVER NO2, you will also receive acoustic and visual warnings directly from the device. If notifications are disabled on your phone, you will only see a red exclamation mark on the speed display in the app.
You decide if and how you want to receive speed limit warnings. In the OOONO app settings, you can activate or deactivate this feature and specify at what percentage or how many km/h above the limit you want to be warned.
At the moment, the speed limit feature (BETA) is supported exclusively in Germany, Denmark, Italy, and the UK.
Get alerts via the CO-DRIVER or your smartphone
You can choose where you'd like to hear alerts — whether that's from your CO-DRIVER, directly from your phone, or through your car's speakers.

Can I change the warning sound of my CO-DRIVER?
No, the sound cannot be customised. The CO-DRIVER uses predefined alert sounds that vary depending on the type of warning.
