The CO-DRIVER connects you to millions of drivers who report incidents from the road each and every day. This way, your CO-DRIVER always gives you up-to-date warnings wherever you go and helps you be one step ahead in traffic, knowing when a speed camera or road hazard is coming up.
The warnings you receive are based on what other users report via their CO-DRIVER NO1, CO-DRIVER NO2 and CO-DRIVER NO2 PLUS, meaning your reports also will be shared with other users.
The OOONO CO-DRIVER comes with the OOONO app. The app is free to use and can be downloaded from the App Store or on Google Play. For more information, have a look at How do I set up my CO-DRIVER?
When do I get warned?
Warnings are not just based on distance - they’re smarter. You won’t receive alerts for stationary cameras on parallel streets, and if you’re driving on the highway, nearby warnings that don’t affect you won’t be triggered.
This precision is especially important in cities, where there are many relevant warnings, but just as many that aren’t useful to you.
Here’s an example for fixed speed cameras:
You’re driving on a street, and there’s a warning very close by, but it’s on a parallel street and not on your route. Even though the incident is near, you won’t receive that warning.
Now, you drive a little further and already know that you need to turn left soon. What you don’t know is that there’s a road hazard about 400 meters after the turn. But as soon as you turn left, your CO-DRIVER warns you - right on time!
Road hazards and mobile speed cameras
Mobile camera and road hazard alerts come from the community, so their direction isn’t always known. That means you might get warnings for mobile cameras or road hazards on the opposite side of the road or nearby parallel streets.
If a road hazard or mobile speed camera isn’t showing on the map in the OOONO app, it simply means it hasn’t been reported by other users yet. Already submitted a report yourself? That’s great - we’ve received it! However, these types of alerts go through a quick approval phase before they appear in the app.
This helps us double-check that the report is accurate by making sure it’s confirmed by several users before it becomes visible to everyone. This way, we can keep the map clean and relevant and avoid false alarms, for example, if a warning was accidentally reported while changing the battery or if the CO-DRIVER button was pressed by mistake.
What about warning distances?
The warning distance depends on the allowed speed limit. The faster the road, the earlier the warning, so you have enough time to react. But just to be clear: we won’t pay your speeding tickets. 😉
Why didn’t I get a warning?
It could be because:
- You were on a nearby road, but not the one the warning was set for.
- You were driving in the opposite lane / direction of the road hazard or speed trap.
- The mobile camera hasn’t been reported by another user yet. But you know what to do, right?
- The warning sound was turned off. Have a look at How do I customize warning settings in the app?

What are the different types of warnings?
Your CO-DRIVER is built to keep you informed - with the right information at the right time. But not all warnings are the same. In fact, there are three different types of alerts, and each one has its own sound and visual light signal on the device. Here’s how to tell them apart and what they mean.
- Speed camera warnings keep you informed about an upcoming speed camera. Uses a blue light to indicate a speed camera is nearby.
- Road hazard warnings let you know about unexpected dangers or obstacles on the road ahead. Uses a red light for CO-DRIVER NO1 and an orange light for CO-DRIVER NO2 to indicate a road hazard is nearby.
- Speed limit warnings (BETA) help you stay within the allowed speed limit. Uses a white light to indicate that you’re exceeding the speed limit (only on CO-DRIVER NO2).
Speed camera warnings
OOONO warns you about fixed, semi fixed and mobile speed cameras.
- Fixed speed cameras are permanent installations.
- Mobile speed cameras are temporary or moving setups. These are usually reported by the OOONO community. They can be more spontaneous, so their availability depends on recent reports.
- Semi fixed speed cameras combine features of both mobile and fixed cameras. This means it will be stationed at a specific location for a few days or a week.
Danger zones (France)
In France, warnings for speed cameras are shown as danger zones instead of showing the exact location of a speed camera:
- A danger zone can contain either a fixed or a mobile speed camera.
- You’ll get a warning as soon as you enter the zone, but only if the camera is facing your driving direction.
- Danger zone pins cannot be muted in the app.
Orange speed cameras (Italy)
In some parts of Italy, you might notice orange-coloured speed cameras placed along the roadside. These devices can be either fixed or temporary, and are often installed by local authorities to encourage safer driving. From the outside, it’s impossible to tell whether a camera is active, “dummy,” or uncertified as they all look identical. There’s also no public or official database that distinguishes between them, not even for us.
Because of this, your CO-DRIVER includes all reported cameras in its alerts. If we tried to exclude cameras that might be inactive, we’d risk missing real, enforceable ones. Even inactive cameras are installed to promote road safety. That’s why CO-DRIVER warns you about them too - helping you stay aware, focused, and within the speed limit.
Road hazard warnings
These alerts are all about keeping you safe when there’s something unexpected ahead on the road. They can include:
- Traffic jams
- Broken-down vehicles
- Obstacles or objects on the road
These warnings are mostly driven by real-time user reports and are an important part of how the OOONO community keeps each other informed.
Speed limit warnings (BETA)
Once you exceed the permitted speed limit, you will receive a friendly warning, an audible alert, and a notification on your phone.
If you have enabled the feature, you will receive notifications on your phone. Depending on the settings, your phone will play a sound, and you will receive a push notification.
- The CO-DRIVER NO1 does not have any sound or light signals on the device itself.
- With the CO-DRIVER NO2, you will also receive acoustic and visual warnings directly from the device. If you have disabled notifications on your phone, you will only see a red exclamation mark on the speed display on the map in the app.
You decide if and how you want to receive speed limit warnings. In the OOONO app, you can activate and deactivate this feature in the settings menu. Here, you can also specify at what percentage or how many km/h above the permitted limit you want to receive a warning.
This feature is in beta — meaning it’s new, improving, and shaped by you. We’re rolling it out early so we can make it better together. If you spot a mismatch in speed limits, give us a shout!
